BCLDB
Discovery
and
Design

Our primary goal was to identify the key pain points and opportunities for redesigning the e-commerce platform, both on the retail and wholesale fronts. This initiative marked a significant milestone for the BCL team as they ventured into e-commerce for the first time, making it essential to establish a solid foundation for success. The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (BCL) is the governmental body responsible for distributing alcohol and cannabis products in the province of British Columbia. We embarked on a two-month discovery process, engaging in interviews with store staff and management to gain insights into their challenges and requirements from various perspectives. Additionally, we conducted comprehensive competitive research, utilizing Figma to create a fully interactive document. This allowed the BCL team to assess their strengths and weaknesses in real-time compared to both direct and indirect competitors. Furthermore, our discovery process involved developing initial design solutions and prototypes based on the feedback and data collected. This comprehensive approach enabled us to lay the groundwork for an effective and efficient e-commerce platform. Due to NDA i can't share all the information, please contact me for more details.

The deliverables encompassed a comprehensive analysis of the competitive landscape, alongside an interactive document that allowed for real-time updates. This provided our client with the flexibility to access constantly refreshed data, facilitating easy sharing. A novel aspect of this approach was the ability to showcase not only architectural and layout strengths but also interactive and animated components that dynamically animated within the document in real-time.

We delivered a comprehensive report showcasing main pain points and opportunities for the product redesign as well as information architecture review, quantitative and qualitative test results, dev architecture review and product roadmap.

In addition of providing a discovery document we provided low fidelity wires and designs for future design implementation, focusing on high value problem solutions for most important areas of the product.
